ABU Suveron XP.

Welll guys i just went and did it. Bought one via the internet.
£119.00 plus £10 delivery.
Read the article in this weeks Sea Angler about the quality and well i,ve always liked ABU i went and bought one.
I,ll use this with my raffles supermag extra.
Promised myself last year after buying second hand gear off e-bay after a year i would buy new gear if i was still interested in the sport.
Well i still am and i have.
I have an outfit now which cost less than £300 so i,m happy.

On a final note i,ve lost count how many shop owners have tried to talk me out of ABU and to buy alternative makes of rod.
Well i suppose its a bit like making love to a lady you never forget the first. (big round and robust). Bit like my new abu rod.

i bought an abu suveran xp early this year cost me £117 with discount from my local shop in redcar, n i must say its an excellent rod never had a floor with it, it is best suited to a low reel position tho if u can get away with it that way. i certainly dont think ul find fault with it, i find it every bit as good as my century cm and axcellorator. enjoy yr new kit mate.

By these are not cheap are they. Compressors £300. Thats a lot of money. Glad the reports are good for the suveron. Also like the low position for the reel better.

Adjustable reel seats.

Rod came today and i had left for Hartlepool missing the post by 5 mins.

Opened it up when i got home and thought lovely rod. Big with the reducer on. I was disappointed to see the rod did not have a reel seat on.

Contacted the seller but i presume its not part of the deal. Measured base 26 mil. Found one on e-bay 12 quid with delivery.

I take it reel seats are not part of rod sales.

least yr gettin a real seat mick, they are supposed to come with them mine did, mine broke tho soon as put my reel on n ended up snappin the top part of the foot on my slosh20 off. replacements been great tho nice real seat to use. enjoy.

reducers

Guys quick question. Using the reducer. Is this a common thing with rods.

Do you take it off after the cast and then put rod in the rest. I,ve seen this done before but never really thought about it.

Or can you leave the reducer in all of the time so your rod has a rubber base.

If your casting with the reel down take it off when you cast then put it on to wind back in.

Aye the reducer is used to increase the distance between the reel and the end of your rod so you have a greater degree of knacker adjustment when pumping in the fish (or hauling back what's left of the tackle). Sometime ago I remember someone on here clearing up the whole issue by describing a reducer as something that "Reduces the shortness of one's rod" and horses etc.

nice rod well suited for heavy work, only problem i find is my old wrists aint what they used to be and i find after a few hard casts the right one aches like hell. used it with leads from 4-7 oz`s no problem, never tried it reel down as i could never get used to a reel in that position, even for a stiff action though it has good bite detection i find
