  • Whitby on the weekend - any mackerel ?

    I'm planning a fishing trip with my lad, are there many mackerel being caught off the pier ?

      hav heard that whitby west has been fishing ok for macky, was talkin to a guy at sandsend carpark on tuesday n its been fishing good there for codling plaice garfish n pollack incase u fancy a change.

          thanks if it was aimed at me lol, hey to everyone else, anyone had much luck lately i was on saltburn pier last sunday n only managed one mackerel lost 1 n missed 2 bites on float n smashed 2 eyes on my fladen chieftan spin rod. great day lol.

            It was am going spinning at Blyth Pier tonight....don't hold out much hope but you never know...

            And Hello Derm as well - just noticed it was his 1st post too LOL

                havnt had much luck with macky the last 2 yrs mainly coz my mate i go with will only go there n its not the best macky spot but, only had 6 macky this yr. had loads of whiting on late tides after the macky hav gone off tho lost count of them.

                      yeah it should be alright,, a bit of a swell on but thats better for the cod.

                            Whitby.

                            There yesterday but only on the pier at (very) low tide. Kids spinning but i did not see nowt caught.
