  • Penn supermag extra.

Went down to Hartlepool today and as usual bought my £5 worth of ragworm.
Whilst in the shop had a look at the reels.
New abu looked nice but the lad was saying nowt will touch the supermag.
Guess who bought one for £150.
Shrouds have no pockets said the old fella so i thought go on. All the gear i have bought has been second hand off e-bay.
Lad give me a spool of 18 lb line for nowt and off i went down the beach.

First cast with shock leader on the 18lb line and a raffle. Second cast, raffle. It just went on every cast bar decnt one.
I was wishing i had bought a new abu 7000 for half the price.
I,ve got the instructions out now and it might as well be in chinese.

To cap the day off. Caught nowt and got my wellies full of seawater. Bass having revenge i think.

I will master it but i,m going to have to persevere.

Has anyone got experience of these reels.

    mick.

I am off for the next few weeks and you seem to be the only person who fishes down this way - if you fancy a chuck give me a pm and could meet up. I am new to shore fishing and have an abu 6500 so can not help you with the reel but would be good to find someone to drown a few rag with. LOL
give a man a fish and feed him for a day - teach the man to fish and feed him for life!!!!

got two and have never had any bother with them - did you balance the reel when putting the line onto the spool - might not make any difference ,but i always do it ,tape it up spin it off and put it onto the table while spiining like a top ,if it moves or vibrates ,do it again

might be a load of bollox from the guys who know best (not me i just listen then try any knew idea)

Guys the going rate for the super mag extra is £150. I,ve been looking for ages for a decent reel.
I bought a second hand Abu 6600 off my mate for peanuts and i hated it. Little thing it was and with a very fast retrieve hard work. Sold this on e-bay.

On another note went to Whitby today with the family.
                  Left fishing gear at home.
Popped into the local tackle shop and spoke to owner about buying a nice new rod for my raffler.
Here he says "can,t beat this for just over a ton A RON THOMPSON ZENSORFLEX"
No offence to any Ron Thompson fans but not my cup of tea.
I want an ABU GARCIA SUVERON XP. In this weeks Sea Angler for £129.99

Whilst on the quayside saw a boat come in OSPREY 11 Looked like few day trippers on board one young kid picked a cod up of about 4lb and had his photo took. Typical Cod instead of Mackeral. I have a feeling there is tons of the cod a mile off.

hoy the brakes on full then you cant get a nest its a pussy cat then back brakes of on notch at a time untill it just starts to fluff up then its right these reels come with rocket fuel as standard which in my opinion is a bit thin for fishing wack a bit 20/50 motor oil in works a treat with less brakes
                    Goal for 2012 a 30lber

My brother has just bought one. I was out the night with him and it was the first time he had used it, he had it set to the full brakes and produced a few nice casts just with lead on. He then baited up etc... cast and burned his thumb and got a nest. Second time he was better with it and said he was just going to ease himself into it. He wouldnt give me a try so I cant comment in person. Very silent reel tho I noticed.

try backin off on yr magnets so there on fully slow n just keep chuckin away if u keep having trbls with it blowin up then check yr line was it cheap cra# he gave u or a decent line ? check make sure u hav no slack built up anywhere on the reel thatll make it blow up all time. as to the zensorflex they are as u say cheap cra# but if u do want a new rod in the ton range the axcellorator is spot on especially for heavy ground work and just as good on beach deff well worth the money if u dont wanna spend big bucks on a rod, i hav a century cm bought new cost me £265 n i think axcellorators just as good.
