  • Failed to find pollock

fished my asss of yesterday 5 different baits, floats, ledgers, spinners, shrip lures, dayligths, jellys and still no pollock...

got down there for about 11 and lugged 3 rods and all my gear from craster to the south side of the castle(how do you get to the north side??). set up at my normal spot casting the big rod out about 40 yards fished close in with the float using head hooked sand eel, and spun in close with the little rod.

had a few good knocks on the float but the little bliters kept biting the tales of my eels..

took a couple of very very small coalie on worm and on shrimp lures.

eventuall got what i thought was goin to be my pollock when i hooked into somthing about 5 yards out,,, gave a good fight on the light gear but was just a macky..

just after the downpore of rain the big rod took a knock, was reeling in somthing big but in managed to unhook mind you it might of just been a lump of kelp lol..

anyhoo had a good day need to find some pollock though.
Happy to help, Keen to learn!

            north of castle

just go through castle grounds either climb over gate if locked or just tell the lady on desk that you are going fishing and they are no problem.(as long as you have a rod with you.)!

English Heritage get free admission to the site if you're a member (well worth the money, we've had family memberships for a few years now and use them most weekends)... through the gates and the gap in the wall is diagonally over to the far corner.

Are you sure you should be posting information like this on here.

                          Consider this...

                          If the Vikings invade again...

They will know exactly how to breach our defenses!

But then again if they do decide to invade we will be forwarned because there will be a rush of vikings joining english heritage.

                            How to get to Dunstanburgh

Just a thought for you shore wallahs as I have never seen it mentioned here. Microsoft have their Virtual Earth program which gives satellite coverage of the UK in varying magnification (down to 50yards in places).

The coverage of the shore areas can be pretty good. If the sun was at the right angle when the satallite took the pic, you can see the seabed, rocks, reefs, etc for quite a distance out. Just the thing for you shore guys. To get an idea I have attached a link to Dunstanburgh at medium resolution. Use the zoom control on the left to zoom in or out. Right click and drag on the image to move about.

Map multiple locations, get transit/walking/driving directions, view live traffic conditions, plan trips, view satellite, aerial and street side imagery. Do more with Bing Maps.

The "boaties" might like to search out slipways etc. Cheers
