    I used to do articles for Match Fishing magazine (freshwater) and they are often "helped" along by putting more than one anglers fish together to make a bag look good. Time is money for the travelling photographer/journalists. As they say its about selling mags.

        Middleton pier

        Firstly my arse Middleton in the right conditions its rare this pier shows any promise. It's a crap hole billet and whitties small to sat the least.

          I've been fishing for over 25 years and still have never fished the place it's a place to go when the sea is to rough anywhere else I'd rather not go out than fish on there

            it is a poor venue for any decent sized fish??

            i remember as a young lad some 35yrs or so ago it was a good place to go after a heavy sea

                Not my first choice of venue but I was on the pier when jay and Steve caught these cod , conditions where spot on - I didn't get any codling my self but jay did well evey cast or so he had fish cod!
                This was earlyer in the year lads first bit sea we had
                So well done jay and Steve and the guy that caught a big big cod and filleted it seconds after catching it - daft arse could of had a wee picture in mag was nice fish around 9-10lb
