  • Advice Please!

    Hi All

Am pretty new to fishing and wanted to try some rock fishing, I have been walking along the coastline round Marsden, Whitburn etc... to find some places to fish from, have spotted a few places but aint got a clue how to get down to them. Can anyone suggest ways to get down or marks which are accessable along Marsden, Souter, Whitburn area!

    Cheers!

    HI Russ,
    Welcome to Nesa site.

cant help you with the access problem except to suggest you buy a boat

I'm sure someone will be along to help in the near future.

    Cheers

my only tip is if it looks they look to dificult to get down to then it probably is best to give them a miss as they will be even more dificult to get off if the sea or weather changes, weve had to many tragdies latley stick to the peirs for now

from whitburn to frenchmans bay are some accessable marks shelfs skeers ,all you need to do is take a walk along the cliff path where most ramblers go ,you will see a few spots and can produce some good cod at certain times of the year ,on a decent size low tide you will see where the holes and gulleys are and kelp beds

heres one i took a while back of souter

the best way to learn new marks it to go with other anglers who have fished this coast regular ! The Cleadon Club SAC is going to be kicking off soon and there is a meeting this Thursday(9th) in the games room from 7.30, why not come along for a chat, the season runs from sep-oct thru till march and a match is fished every monday night , there is also away trips and they are a great bunch of lads
                      Cheers Bert
