  • New Marks Advice Needed S Shields

Hi all I had to take wife and her mother to a funeral today up at South Shields Crematorium so thought I would suss out a few new river marks to fish in between Customs House and the red light channel marker just past Walkway.

First place I went to was the Ferry landing which looked ok with a wooden jetty to the left also to the right of the ramp was a small area without rocks in front maybe a bit to near the ferry landing though for casting.

Second place I went to look at was at Broad landing where it was obvious that people fished there as there was bit of line laying about on a wood jetty which is just behind some flats that looked over the river.

Third place I came to was between the Sea Cadets and Utility Wise and there is a car park between them. This mark I would have to cast over the rocks in front of the walkway at mid tide but it's possible to fish high tide would be no problem.

Fourth place was down past walkway near the beach the red light / channel marker which looked possible to fish anywhere along there casting into the river or at the end towards the ss pier.

Finally the last one which I have read allot of reports about was at the Customs House mind I have no idea where any of these marks fish best or where to avoid due to really bad snags the only two place I have fish on the river is Hebburn just up from the boat club and south Shield pier.

Any advise on any of these marks would be much appreciated ie best time height of tides flood or ebb. I need to get out over the christmas hols and looking at the forecast we are not going to get any rough sea going by windguru and a few other sites.

    Cheers Chris

at jarrow the pedestrian tunnel mark has been revamped its ideal for anyone starting angling or taking youngsters down plenty of parking and plenty of room for anglers.
