  • Ron Thompson Axcellerator ?

Hello All, does anyone happen to know the correct size of reel seat for the Axcellerator ? Apparently, this rod no longer comes with a reel seat fitted so its either coasters, reel clamps or another reel seat. Many Thanks in anticipation.

    cheers,

    aa.

Ok Andy Mate, here is the tale ! I had one of these quite a while ago and sold it when I thought that I was going to pack in the fishing ! (Big Mistake). I have been after another one for a while now and saw one in the local tackle shop, (which shall remain nameless for now), I bought it as soon as I saw it and on getting it home after work, I took it out of the bag and noticed that there wasnt a reel seat with it. I phoned the dealer the next day and he told me to bring it back to them. I took it back the following day and said that I would be willing to have another one from stock if they didnt have a suitable reel seat in stock. They looked around the rods for sale and found another one which also, did not have a reel seat ! so, it was surmised that the rod no longer came with a reel seat fitted. Having said that, I have seen them on the web from the mail order boys and they ALL have reel seats fitted so, I am wondering whats gone on here ? Can anyone throw any light on the subject for me as it would be appreciated.

          cheers.

Before I decided to buy mine I looked at loads of reviews and everyone who has one loves it (and everyone who had one but got rid, regretted it!) but nearly everyone said the reel seat isn't that good, and most people upgrade it. Maybe they've just stopped putting them on the latest batches.

I had to upgrade from the standard one as I struggled to get my hand correctly on my reel.

Thanks for the replies lads, its got me wondering if they are in fact, discontinueing the reel seats as they used to be absolute crap! I did a review some time ago for these rods and said then that the reel seat was rubbish as I had accidently dropped an Abu 7ooo onto mine from a height of around 18 inches and the seat just shattered.I have a number for Svenden Sports who I think is the distributor for Ron Thompson products and I will give then a ring and ask whats going on. Will post on here when I find out.

                Cheers

Right Lads ! Latest Update ! I found a number for the Ron Thompson Distributors for the UK and have spoken to a very helpful guy there by the name of Scott, (his christian name). I told him where I bought the rod and also told him that another Axcellerator in the tackle shop was also missing its reel seat. He was very interested to learn this as they are ALL supposed to come complete with reel seats from the Manufacturer, (Svendsen Sports). He has told me to sort myself out with a reel seat and send him the bill. He also now has the name of the Tackle Dealer concerned and says that the Dealer isnt on his supply lists so, must be getting the rods from another source. He assures me that he will be looking into this situation. So, if anyone is planning to buy one of these rods, remember that it should come with a reel seat, (even though its a rubbish one !!!!!).

                  Cheers,
