  • okuma ultramax, cheap yes, brilliant yes !

Chanced a few quid on a spool of this having read some sensible reviews. I got some 30lb stuff at .50mm and have used it now in some real heavy ground with a 70lb rubbing leader. It's got to be the best value line I've bought having used it at cullercoats, king eddies, collywell etc and I've bust 60lb hooklength before breaking my line at the leader knot tied with a spider hitch ! Outstanding line for the money imo.

I usually use daiwa sensor and have swore by it for years but this line has surprised me and for 4 quid a spool, well I'll let you decide.

    Cheers.
    Regards Nicky.

I saw a 12lb 10oz cod hauled in on Shield pier last week with this line. nrgjim swears by it.
I tried using this stuff a couple of years ago as shockleader and found that the knots slipped, I must have got a spool from a bad batch.

it does m8 , I use a 8" length as it does slip and twirls , before it forms a good knot.

I'm actually halfway threw a half kilo spool of okuma platinum at 35lb 0.45, the line is absolutely superb for the price, only paid 19.99 I think it was can't fault the stuff
