  • Pennel pulley question

Can any1 tell me the best measurements for the pennel pulley? My instructions say hook length 50-70cm and the lead length 60-80cm but I don't really want to use all my gear on some rigs with the wrong measurements. Also does the line colour make much difference as ave only got some 50lb yellow leader. Cheers

if ur fishing dirty water i dont think line colour is a question
ur rig length should suit the conditions u wanna fish . too long in a heavy sea will see u tangled.
Punch and pull then let rip

Never use pully rigs i've lost/missed to many fish with them but as for hook snoods and rig bodys colour dosen't make a great deal of differance i've had loads of cod on everything from clear to bright flourecent orange and yellow line even when fishing the kelp during the summer in crystal clear water

Cheers lads al knock a few up with what I have got then. Out of interest bandit, what rig do you use? If its not too complicated to tie, I might have a go.

Agree with bandit, also dont use them as had similar experiences (lost fish.) If using them when the seas away i would crop the rig body and snood length to keep bait on the bottom and reduce tangles.. Line colour unimportant also, dont think old bucketmouth cares much..

Over clean ground blood loops (Dropper Loop - How to tie a Dropper Loop) with 60lb rig body and snoods a 2/0 split ring to the weight and a loop (Surgeons End Loop - How to tie a Surgeon's End Loop) at the top attached to another split tied onto the end of my shock leader.

In the kelp i have a Bronzed Brass Barrel Swivel (https://www.veals.co.uk/acatalog/bro...wivel-642.html)
with 12" of 30lb to the weight from the bottom eye of the swivel and a 60lb snood about 15" long tied to the top eye with again attached to a 2/0 split ring with 40lb main line on the reel.
