Blyth Pier

we were at blyth 4.45 this morning .we were first ones on the pier it was was quiet fishing wise for about hour then i caught 3 in 15 mins and that was it for another 2 and a half hours (nobody catching anything and i mean nothing )so we went home about 8/ 0 clock ish there was only about half a dozen people left when we left .wind was a bit nippy and basically it was just a bad morning
wind has dropped now and it seems a bit warmer so if your going you might have more joy.good luck

TED180 , I turned up about 07:30 and I believe I fished next to you until you left.

I stayed until about 11:00. I saw only three mackeral and half a dozen big sand eels.

Dissapointing but batter than wall papering !!!

i was there with my son and daughter .i was wearing a black jumper and black hat (had to give me jacket to my daughter she was freezing) my son was wearing a yellow flouresent jacket. i was fishing about 25 yards past the bend if thats any help

I gave Blyth a miss at the weekend, and on the advice of the nice man at the Newbiggin tackle shop fished the beach just north of Alcan. Caught a nice sea bass and a coalfish, plus something else I couldn't identify (a bit eel like but very smooth and slimy, and olive green like a tench !!)

Well pleased for first proper trip out - and I think my son's got the bug for more too !!

The only pier you're allowed on is the West pier and the harbour bods will still tell you that it's at your own risk as the harbour is not dedicated to the public. The East pier is out of bounds despite people still going onto it, apart from the risk of getting in bother for trespassing getting onto it involved climbing around barriers and I'm sure there's been a few accidents on there in the past (pretty sure some guy fell and broke his back)...
