  • Time to close the milliband thread

Well the announcement was made today as what is to be discussed in the next session of Parliament...and the marine bill is not in there.

I could make comments about how silly that is since its time that 1968 rules got changed. They promised in two manifesto's to bring it in ...but you know where promises go.

The good news is ...THERE WILL BE NO LICENSE FEE FOR AT LEAST A YEAR.

The bad news..the commercials will still rule our seas as they have for many years.

All I can say is sh*t happens...particularly where politics are concerned.

I would like to thank those who have followed the thread and watch out for it being reintroduced. If one person out there has become more aware of whats going on in terms of political issues directly affecting our sport then any time I have personally spent was all worth while.

    Thanks guys (and gals)

    Cheers

        Hi Graham.
I think you would be right in saying that a license would not have come in untill 2009 as the time scale to get it through parliament, set it up and then implement it would have almost certainly stretched it that far.

The marine bill proposal has only been put on hold due to lack of parliamentary time so it will come back.

I certainly dont look at it as time wasted. Anything that brings anglers recognition with the decision makers is worth it. Its the only way we are ever going to see things change for the better.

        Cheers

            Recognition

            Hi Sless,
I for one don't think that you or anyone else have wasted their time on this subject. In my opinion you have shown that anglers do have a voice and that when this issue is raised again, which it will be, we'll be given more consideration than perhaps we've had before,
Thanks again for your efforts, Ian.
