  • OPEN CASTING COMPETITION

the UKSF and the NWSA have combined forces to offer the anglers and casters in the north of the UK a chance to watch and compete alongside some of the best casters in the UK.

on sunday the 18th april there will be the first ever open UKSF competition in the north of england.

trophies will be presented to the best non UKSF casters on the day for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place and there will be a prize for the best non UKSF caster as well!

trophies are also to be awarded for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd longest casts overall on the day as well as an aggregate trophy based on a combination of two leads.

for those who are accurate enough there will be a prize for the nearest cast to the centreline

spectators are welcome and it will be a good opportunity to ask the \"pro,s\" about ways to improve your own casting distance

remember you don,t have to fish at maximum range all the time but having the choice can sometimes be a big help

contact information for the event can be found in the casting section of the forum

apparently it cant so directions to the field are as follows:-

    exit junction 33 M6

take the first exit off the roundabout [left]

after 1.1 miles turn right into cockerham road

after 1.6 miles turn right at the T junction

after 500yds turn left at the T junction and continue along this road for approx 2 miles. sand villa farm is on the left and the entrance to the field is on the right immediatly after the farm.

the event starts 9am prompt and once underway there will be a flag erected at the entrance to the field. if you see this flag, for your own safety STOP and WAIT for an escort to a safe area.

A few Q\'s that might need to be answered.

1 - Are sinkers available on the day & how much are they.
2 - Do you need to have any special colour lines.
3 - What are the rules.
4 - What size sinkers can you use.
    5 - Are there toilets.
6 - Whats the cost to join in.

NESA = No Exaggerated Sillyness Allowed

N.B - The above post is the personal thoughts and views of Andy 'Led Chukka' Miller and not those of any Association, Club or Federation that he is a member or representative of. Any issues with content should be addressed directly and not through his memberships.

thanks for asking the questions andy

bring your own sinkers, the leads we usually use range from 50g through to 200g in 25g steps. the most popular sizes for all out distance being 100g, 125g, 150g and 175g.

the mainline and leader must be hi vis as we cast on grazing land and don,t want to leave anything behind which could injure an animal in any way.

for rules check out the uksf rules they are the same as the one,s we use

there may be a portaloo there but it would be best to locate a patch of docken leaves just in case

cost??? free to spectators and as for the casters i dont know that is up to the club to determine.

what i should have put on the first post was further information available from len williams nwsa@ukonline.co.uk

          Hi Led,
I think the longranger covered most questions that you had,but there should be sinkers on sale but it is always best to bring your own in case we run out, there will not be a porta loo I am afraid, the costs to UKSF / NWSA members will be £5.00 on the day,to non members it will be £8.00...please make sure that you have high vis running line and shock leaders of the appropiate size for the sinker.Line is available on the day unless we run out.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the 18th April 9.00am....but please check with this board the day before...
