Hi,
There mate i use 30lb hooklenghts if i am fishing rough ground or 35-40lb and a 80lb shockleader or even 35lb straight through also 80lb line for weight lenght, i use pulley pennel rigs so i always have thick line for the weight lenght as sometimes the swivels cut through the line with the impact of the cast so its also important to use a big swivel on the weight lenght. I use 20-30lb hooklenghts on pennel rigs if fishing over a kind of shingely bottom or not as rough of a bottom as for example shields pier i would use thick line on both weight and hooklenght whereas if i was on the end of Roker i would use thinner line as on the roundhead its mostly all sand.Hope this information helps you mate.
i my self use greesed weasle shock leader for weight lenth ' tied to a rolling swivel and 15lb amnesia hook lenth
the 2 sakuma 3/0 hooks one at base one wraped around trace lenth for pennel rig
