WEST HOUSE FISHING REPORT 27/11/13
Overall catches have been good over the last two weeks. Fish seem to be most active from mid-day to late afternoon and are still actively chasing lures or responding well to buzzers and nymphs . More and more larger trout are making an appearence among catches with the cooling temperature and remain in mint condition. The damsel nymph and cats whisker seem to be the most successful pattern for these larger fish. A slow retrieve when fishing a lure and nymph set-up on an intermediate has taken a lot of fish.
There is a heat of the Fritznflies winter competition at West House on the 2nd December with a total prize fund in the final estimated at £2500
The heaviest fish this week was caught by Robert Harrison of Darlington 13lb which drew a croud of spectators as he played it for almost 20 minutes before managing to net it. Other good bags this week were Mike Smith who landed 14 fish caught on a selection of lures and John Patterson and his son who between them caught 18 fish the best a nice Brown estimated at 6lb.
Every angler has a chance to win a prize ( this month an Airflow forty plus fly line) if they fill in their catch return
The lakes are now open from 8am until dusk every day
Best Flies :- Cats whiskers, Black Zonkers, Blobs, Dawsons Olives
