Went down hoping to catch some mackeral. Saw the state of the sea and thought no-way. The Heugh was swamped with waves.
Bought some ragworm from Mainsforth Terrace and set up opposite the Staincliffe on Marine Drive at Seaton Carew. One cast and the grip lead refused to hold the bottom.
Next move was to the pilot pier round the corner from the Heugh. This spot was sheltered and another guy ws fishing using prime peeler. Both of us hoped a couple of codling might happen by but alas it proved not to be the case.
I could see some Artic Turns diving down for sprat,at least thats what i thought. I swear i saw some once or twice in the murky water.
In anticipation i put some daylights on and had a few casts, again to no avail.
Nowt caught, just a couple of knocks on the rod. Still better than being at work, nice way to spend an afternoon.
Took one shot on me mobile-give you some idea of the sea.
Mick.
