right then i was always led to believe that sun and calm flat sea with no wind = best mackerel conditions
however lately ive been getting them as long as its not too windy, grey skies blue skies bit of a breeze kicking up the lot ...so does the sunshine not really matter? ( also noticed the mackerel really seem to be in when theres loads of jellyfish in the water ipresume they dont eat em so is it a coincidence??)
then we get on to spinning, personally i only use a really lightweight 7or 8 footish rod witha titchy reel with a single nordic sprat style lure
i kno the crack is your supposed to do the old jerk and wind retieve, however lately i just have tried a really slow retrieve wiithout jerkin and was pulling in loads more than the feather jerkers next to me :P so is it a case of if it works it works or are there really best conditions and techniques ? whcih i probably guess is what works works
