Used to fish these areas regular - the lane and in front of the tanks were my favourite spots and were great with a bit of a sea on, but you had to be careful in front of the tanks with a north easterly and big seas running. I have seen massive bags of fish taken from these areas. All the lads used to carry heavy duty plastic sacks to put the fish in. On the down side I have also seen lots of gear washed off and lads really lucky not to get washed away. Happy days which sadly are long gone.

the high drum as gone , the dock company are letting the place rot,and go in a state of disrepair then use that as one of the excuses to not allow fishing , along with the terrorist threat what a joke , another great fishing area LOST

Used to fish it regularly. Loved pensioners, the lane, steps and the Low drum. The fish were always stuffed with big green runnidown during bg northerlies and they were a fantastic bait.

Its ridiculous that all the south side of the river is out of bounds now - we must have the only port authority in the country to be like this. The terrorist threat doesn't wash with me either, total cop out.

Best fishing marks in the north east and probably the country.

Some absolutely ridiculous fish have been taken down there.

I live on the dock entrance, just a shame youre not allowed down anymore, id never be off

              Happy days

Had a great Saturday morning two weeks ago in my mates boat uptiding 100 yards off the drum at the entrance to bar trams bay. Still plenty of fish around there. Used to dig some great bait in there.
When God made time he made loads of it.

Aye,and when they demolished the Garths they dumped most of it on the North eastern beach Tony.Ruined it for a long time till the sand re-covered it.
I had some exceptional sessions around the docks and the South pier.I fished the Lane in my teens before the new wall was built and the wooden staithes were there. It was worth putting up with the fanny pads on the gear for the great fishing.
Odd lads are still getting down,a mate had a canny bag of fish from the NE beach a fortnight back.
