Try a conoflex assassin, I use mine for flats, spinning for Pollack and plugging for Bass - its a really versatile rod.

thats mad that as ive only ever heard of 1 other mick cave and he was also an angler if you look in the shimano mission in sea angler the other mick cave has the 24lb 6oz record smoothhound

I can't see it being much different to a Carp rod Mick, so should be ok for spinning. Best of luck with it anyway mate.
