none of them, good for casting but cant lift fish up pier walls ;-) learning to use a multiplier is the best thing you will ever do, fixed spools these days on a long rod can cast the distance and thats about it they dont have any lifting power at all iv even seen £150 fixed spool handle snap off the lift of a 5lb cod ;-( just my opinion

I use okoma 60 dist
and boy does it go far got the 50 as well and is just as good.
reeling in is like watching a speed boat on water as it flys in
as for lifting these will pull the plug out the sea as far as I have seen.
maki season 6 on line and it whipped them in and pulledand lifted then no probsLast edited by CosmicCat; 17-11-2013, 10:30 PM._______________________________________

i personally dont rate them for lifting like handle constructions are a weak point a pin on a pinnion if you think of the strongest weight pullers in the world a multiplier is a smaller version of an industrial winch, the most crucial point of landing a fish is the lift it has to be fast and trouble free hit the wall and its gone i cudnt think of a worst time for a reel to go tits up ;-0

I was talkn to gary pye in nets on sat as I've been looking for a new fixed spool n he used the penn afinity on hawthorn point, think he said he uses 20lb braid main with 80lb braid leader and never had any problems lifting fishwww.home-improver.com

If you want max casting distance go for the penn affinity or if more grunt is required the penn battle, also fin nor reels are worth a look. All will handle heavy ground fishing and can be used on the cliffs never mind a pier and are a lot less than £200/£300, shimano's do some nice reels as well bit more expensive than Penn's.
