I stopped using pulley rigs after last winter and just switched to a simple 1 hook rig made made using a 3 way swivel - found my catch rate has improved a lot this year so far. I always hold my rod as well so i can feel whats going on all the time.

What ground are yous all talking about because for beach work I fish pulleys all the time and don't seem to be any worse off than any other rig. Rough ground simple me hook flapper does the trick with a rotten bottom. Big pull downs don't mean fish are hooked a fish can pick the bait up form the side and drop it after a pull resulting in no hook up , just got to wait for next takePB SHORE COD 9LB 14oz seaton sluice 3/11/12
