Just bought one of these systems and tried it to make some cart baits. I have to say I am impressed. You get a really neat round bait which should cast better than the big rough chunks I have been using. Also because you can compress it down with the plunger the bait is more solid and should in theory take longer to break down.
Been using bandage and cling film and have caught on both, but difficult to get a neat bait I find.
Anyone else tried it ? The nylon web is a bit pricey but might use 22mm sausage skins when I run out. I think the key advantage is being able to compress the baits hard. You get less baits of course numerically but for sure there is more concentrated crab in each.
Got me thinking it might be useful to make crab avoiding baits too. One because of the mesh parcel itself but in theory at least you could put some floating material in the parcel to lift baits off the bottom. I might try that out next time on the river. Any thoughts?
