On a breezy morning with heavy showers 9 members of the Whitby Fishing forum gathered at Upgang beach to fish the Whitby fishing forum catch measure and release members competition. With a growing easterly swell hopes of a few fish were high. The local favourites were confident their peg would provide the winning fish and the match got underway around 10.15 am.
Around half way through the match after little action on the bite front Phil from Redcar (AKA Rusty) struck into and landed what was to be the only fish of the match a fine bass of 37 cm.
Allthough bites were rare the banter and the local scenery kept the lads amused throughout the match.
A big well done goes to Phil who is £90 better off for his mornings fishing.
