  • Penn Surfblaster 8000 info

In case its not common knowledge I found out there are two different types of spindle, and thus spare spool, one with a "D" profile and one with more of an oblong shape. I spoke to a bloke who does Penn spares and he told me the Chinese manufacturers just alternate as they see fit so he supplies adaptor washers. If anyone wants contact details for the spares PM me.

Is this reel strong to handle rough ground fishing or is it just a good beachcaster?

I have had it coming up a year now and honestly, it seems capable of anything.

        Cheers for the info

I noticed this when I bought my 2nd one. It's a stupid thing for penn to have done. That's what ya get when the Chinese are making ya bits.
          All the gear, no idea.

                8000 braid spool

Lads, just while this thread is up...

I have been looking to acquire a spare braid spool for my SB 8000 as I have gone over to the darkside of braid past year or so and use this reel for all sorts now.
Struggling to find one...any help appreciated - cheers.

Lovely, I will give them a ring in the morning. Never been to Moonfleet, bit out of my way but worth it to get my hands on the spare spool.

Really hard to find - the 2 places that I found on the internet saying they had them in didnt have them in stock! Checked in various tackle shops up and down the country when passing through.
