  • Reel seat stuck - help!?

    My reel seat has suddenly seized so cannot unscrew to get reel back off rod?? Any advice welcome before I have to get a hacksaw out!!!!!!!! Cheers fellas

    Hold the collar of the reel seat and give the butt of the rod a good sharp tap on the ground, this usually frees them. Worth a try.

        Tried the sharp tap with out success - will now try and locate the WD40!!

              WD40 and a big wrench that I found in the shed. Reel seat needs replacing but at least its off!!

                It wasn't an Abu griplok by any chance they used to get stuck for me quite a lot so changed to Fuji

                  nah mate. I have sk3 as my second rod and its just one of their seats. Gonna get it changed to a Fuji one but somehow need to work out which size and type ha!! Sounds like a job for FISHFINGERS(STAN)!!!!

                    If you take the butt section along to somewhere like I.D. Fishing they should be able to sort you out with the correct size reel seat

                      Have you had any problems with the Fuji seat mate? I popped the screw off the ali sleeve that sits over the reel on my Abu one this week. I had to bash it up with some pliers to get the reel off. I'm gonna try a Fuji one if they are better.

                          Been using Fuji reel seats since the 80's and never had any trouble with them, they might cost a little more than the copies but worth the extra cash
