  • Port Patrick

    Hi all,

Me & a mate are having a run up to Port Patrick this weekend. He needs to get away and get his head around a couple of things.
Was wondering if anyone knows of any decent tackle shops there which sell bait or should be we bait up?
Plus, any recommendations on where to fish?? Never fished it before.

    cheers,

God there are 100s of good marks but unless you show someone they its impossible to explain.

I love the rock marks all along that side of the coast and as long as you dont get any strong west winds you should catch pollack and colie on lures etc.

Dogfish and all the normal speacies will be around that area by now, i am not up until the end of the month.

If in dout have a trip to the mull...easy to fish marks like flat rock etc, park at the top and follow the wall down, walk left abit and follwo the tracks down until you see a spot you think you could fish...its not a good pollack mark anymore 9overfished) but you get a few species.

Like i said i could tell you houndreds of marks but could never expalin how to get you there.

Go to Stranraer, theres a great tackle shop there with all the bait you'll need. If you head for the main street in Stranraer, its up the far end away from the shops.

As for marks, if its blowing westerly, try the east facing marks on the mull.

Cheers for all the info lads. Justa got back and had a great weekend.
Called in on Eric @ The Sports Shop. Fantastic set of lads . told us to bring a map and he wrote up a dozen or so places we could fish depending on the weather. Ended up at Cairnryan as it was close and the motor has started to overheat . Didn't want to risk it too much.
Well we fished the shingle bank before we moved to the pier. Caught doggies, coalies and a few macky.
And now we know the best way there and where to call at, will be returning a little later in the season for some sport.

Again, thanks for all the help and recommendations.

                        Martin
