anyone had any mackies off sheilds pier yet

  • #2
Never heard of any yet but if the sea stays settled this next week or so then i think that they might show. Sless said a week or so ago that there were launce about and if theyre in then the macky wont be far behind. The sea roughed up a bit since then tho so might put them off.

The odd one has been reported but NONE off shields pier, to be honest is all the years I have fished the pier May the 26th was the earliest I have caught a mackerel before and I have seen 2 caught on the 24th by someone else.

At the moment the pier is not the best spot to fish, muddy water from the dredger and algi bloom causing problems.

The tides this week are about average so that may push the dirty water back up river and the colder spell may help the after a touch, fingers crossed but am sure the likes of Shady, Slinky Kate and the rest of the boats fishing just of the pier and our coast line will catch mackerel a week or two before we get them on the piers.

Been getting a few small colie and launce on spinners etc but poor on the last trip with the water colour.

Mr. Charlton normally gives reports from the commercials when they start seeing them coming in.

          Don't you Mr. Charlton please
