  • Shock leader

Right so I've got 20 or 25lb stren line straight through at the minute and gonna put a shock leader on to get more power in my cast. As I've never used one I'm just wondering what the best knot is to use to tie the shock leader on? I was gonna use 60lb shock leader. Thanks lads.

    Shockleader knot

Would this be the best knot to use?

Many different shock leader knots to use and many different opinions on the best one, I personally use the albright and had no problems with it, Guess its just trial and error to find the best one for you, There is a lot that are good but complicated also and thats the last thing you want to be doing on a cold frosty night is tying a complicated knot with freezing cold hands

I just do an overhand knot in the shock leader, put the mainline through the knot and tie it round the shock leader with a grinner/uni knot. Never had it crack off, and its really quick and easy. I use 20lb mainline with 20ft of 60lb shock leader.

completely disagree with you mate. i use blob knot when the sea is weedie so i get a smaller knot and have not had a parted knot yet.
