  • Just some advice please

Hi I am looking at getting a few rods sent down here ( N Z )
I am looking at some of the cheaper rods set up for freespools as the range availbile localy is both scarce and expensive.... I just want to get away from the fixed spool rods that I am using now.
So what of these leeda/shakspeare/fladen rods sub 80 pound rods how do they cast ???

If anyone has any questions on fishing in NZ ask away!

Welcome to NESA mate, I have had a couple of Shakspeare rods in the past and found for the money they were pretty good. Not used any of the others so can't comment on them. Best of luck with the fishing down your way.

    Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

Hello mate, I lived in NZ for two years, was in Auckland.

There was a good tackle shop in Orewa, which is North Auckland and also a good one in Papakura South Auckland.

Can't remember the names of the shops but remeber the one in South Auckland also sold hunting equipment, guns etc..... and the one in Orewa sold Dive equipment.

Think you'll find it a lot cheaper to get something from these places opposed to here as postage will be huge and your not guaranteed to get your rods in one piece.

If I remember rightly there was also a good one in Warkworth which is North Auckland/ Northland.

I used to use both of the first ones I mentioned and found them Ok for price and there gear was not bad.

      Cheers

      Tony

Thanks guys as I said above there is not a lot choice here in this sort of rod killwell do two one is like a telephone pole in bite detection ...and the other can best be described as flexible...
Cd rods also do one I have tried it and again a bit sloppy....

Theres no shortage of good tackle shops around here and also a couple of great rod builders but sod all in the way of uk style casting blanks...which is why I am looking offshore.

Anyone else tried any rods in that sort of range?
