I was gonna slide the squid up me line , then lash a few mussel on a hook and pull the squid back down over it and lash that on , a bit like a squid n mussel pie , what do ya think of that ????

as for the location, all im gonna say is a rolling stone gathers no moss.

a mussel wrap m8 is how i would do it 4 or 5 big mussel bound on the hook then cut a strip of squid & wrap half the bait in it like a blanket.

I have seen that done with squid up line then 4 or 5 lug then the squid pulled down over the worms and wrapped in elastic worth a shot in my opinion

id usually buy 40 lug , but had to buy a rod stand and bait bucket cos they blew away , so squid and mussel for the morn, just hope the winds don't come as strong as forecast !!

thanks for the suggestions lads - slack lines

This video is a good guide for when you're using whole squid. Just swap the lug for mussel

Dave Barham, prepares a squid stuffed with lugworm for winter cod and bass.

I some times gut a full squid then stuff it with mussel or crab then thread the hook through a couple of times and bind it up nice and tight and puncture it so the juices flow out of it great to cast and is nicely presented

Works really well with mussel inside the squid. Also if yr fishing for cod helps to stop the bait robbing whiting as well as the crabs..

                      squid

a few year ago i was using 2 rods and i tryed blacks on one and just squid on the other blacks def caught more but only just so i thought squid by its self is a good bait
old anglers never die -they just smell that way

tried this m8, very effective and looks well , a whole squid maybe ok for on a boat , but not for casting . we just need some frosts now to bring the cod in .
