well finally i managed to hook a biggie, looked about 2 foot long cod...no idea how much it weighed as my rod snapped in half as i got it to the surface

so the question is what to buy as replacemant ? there is not a lot of choice here and about the only thing i could find in the way of surf rod is a shimano. does anyone have opinion of this make for sea rods? i know they good for corse as i used them in the past but not sure about sea.

Unlucky russ! There have been a few posts on here along the same line but there aint many that fish Iceland! I personally use a Ron Thompson Axcellerator and think its the dogs danglies and i really only ever fish rock, cliffs and piers and it serves me well, think they come in at around £100 which is great for what you get compared to the other bigger names on the market. Now i aint had a cod that size but think it would cope ok, better luck on the next beastie you hook into!

Never heard of that one, theres loads on the market now and all ov them claim to be mint, never had a problem with mine and a few guys on here use them and/or rate them as a good rod, some rods like the Anyfish Anywhere rods get good reviews but are in the £250-£350 bracket which is beyond my range. If you can pick one up 2nd hand youll be getting a good rod.

mostly fish from rocks and a few small jetties, not so many sandy beaches around the local coastline. if i did venture near the cliffs i would most likely fall off as im a clumsy git haha
