dave the cross party debate is not just oposit members from anywhere but from milibands oposit numbers that would be in his position if they where in power, also by having the scot nat party involved will help as they have to start the licence in scotland first so if they throw it out where will the english stand be on it, but thanks for your concern, by only talking to him as mp for south shields will not help the rest of the uk, and by letting all cross party M.P.S KNOW OUR FEELINGS WILL HELP WHEN THE FIRST READING OF THIS BILL IS BEFORE THE COMMONS, ONLY THEY CAN BLOCK IT OR A LEGAL ISSUE.

if the concern was just the north east then yes personal disscussion could be the way to go but this is countrywide, we need one voice that represents all of us not just regions, personal comments are part of life, hes the guy in the driving seat and the only face there,so hes going to get the flack, to be honest i have not seen anything that i would say is totally ott posted, at the end of the day the sea anglers feel as if they are being shafted and showing thier displeasure, i bet hes heard a lot worse from the trawlermen, if he blanches at whats posted on here now, wait untill a date is given for liciences to be issued

          Dear Mr Harrison

Thank you for your email to Fiona Hall MEP regarding The Marine Bill which is currently open for consultation with DEFRA. It would be most useful if you could outline what specific parts of the Marine Bill White Paper are of concern to you and your organisation as this is not completely clear in the email.

This will help Fiona to respond to your enquiry. As this bill is still at the consultation stage it is important that your group formally respond to the consultation with your concerns. Is this something that you have already done?

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

          Kind regards

Fiona I wonder if you could look into this for me and comment so this can be published on the fishing sites. Please look at this link as well http://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/fo...letin-board/0/ please note I have also sent a copy of this to CHRIS HUHME

          April 19 2007 DAVID MILIBAND M.P.paul Harrison

          Dear Sir:

After reading the letter you sent to Mr Graham Slesser on the marine-bill and reading the report on the same from your department, we the members of the Recreational sea angling (your department wording) group would like to arrange a meeting to voice our views and fears over the cost and implementation of this bill. Under the pretence of helping improve the environment and marine life of which we mostly support I feel this bill is proposed to help the government to pay for the new offshore wind farms of which it proposes to build to help sustain the power supply for the future. My thoughts firstly go to your report to where it says it would wait for Scotland to implement the law first before England so I wonder is there some division between the UK on this law, and if Scotland do not implement the charge then will England still go ahead as has been the case in other Scot/English issues. We then come to the issue of the charge being implemented to boats that fish within waters within the 12 mile radiuses from the shelf, I wonder if this will not just force boats further out so by making them enter water that could be more dangerous. If this was the case then anyone who would end up in difficulty would have to call on the lifeboat for help at further cost to the taxpayers of this country. If a boat returns and has only fished outside the limit will there be a landing charge for fish brought home but caught outside the 12 mile limit. Maybe this could be classed as Duty Free. As you have already indicated there could be some 800,000 licensed sea anglers in line for your stealth tax that may bring in Ł538 million per year (your report from The Drew Report) we feel this is an unjust tax on something that is done for pleasure and not gain. If you get moved to sports minister next cabinet re-shuffle would you impose a tax for football supporters to help pay for the 2012 Olympics. We understand from your letter to Mr Slessor that we only have until 8th June as a deadline for comments, I wonder if we need to get Legal help to stall this bill going through until we have more time to understand it better. As time is short I will send this to your office at DEFRA and also at Parlament as you are busy with the local Elections, I hope you find the time to reply promptly as we need to make plans ourselves before your deadline. Please note this is sent also to all opposition party’s for their comments and will be posted on our website at http://www.nesa.co.uk/forums

          SINCERELY, HARRA.

I'm all for lawlessness and overeating but I don't think you should have copied and pasted that e-mail - the above text suggest that you may be liable to get wheel clamped or something for doing it.

this disclaimer is typical, you cant use my opinions without my permission, obviously when thier opinion does not toe the party line they dont want it being seen, at the end of the day why hide it if there is nothing to worry about, perhaps if it said i am a raging physcopath bent on destroying the govenment you could understand the do not use clause

Sorry but that makes no difference at all to this site, if there was no permission it should not be there.

There's nothing to stop a person from posting the gist of a reply almost word for word but the contents of the e-mail are a diferrent matter I think.

Those two heroes / criminals who leaked the contents of the Downing street memo were sent down for quite some time recently.

Sea Rod Licences April 17 2007, 4:42 AM

Just to add more petrol to this little argument.
Do anglers realise that we as sea anglers are already paying a virtually undisclosed Sea licence fee to run the Local Sea Fishery Committees around the whole of England & Wales.
Sea Fishery Committees demand from your local unitary authority a rate support precept from your council rates to support their operations such as the running of the patrol Boat "Aegis" which is based in Conwy Nth Wales and known to the local Marina regulars as the "Floating Tea Urn".... gives you a clue as to what the crew do most!

If you contact your local county councillors and ask what they think of this money being siphoned off for little or no outcome, scarce prosecutions and poor value for money then maybe angler power and letters of complaint to Council Chief Executives may change matters as I feel the County councillors who sit on the SFCs have a lot to answer for for failing to demand better services and improved fishery protection.
Theres need for change and sea anglers and clubs should wake up to this situation and do something positive.

Go ahead. write and you will be astounded at the response
