Has anybody fished in ireland? Whats it like? When is the best time to go? Is it best on the north, south, east or west? What bait is best to use? Please let me know as that is where we are thinking about going.

potts im from ireland i fished most of the south east coast all my life it depends on what your after.if you want to go for pollock then a mark called bally macaw is a good shot you get rass and mackeral there in the summer if your after cod then a place called passage east is packed full of them mainly around the pound and a half mark up to the odd three pounder.i know a very good bass mark aswell its called the back strand also tramore beach gives good bass aswell a few lads picked a few good bream up off that beach aswell this year tramore beach has given bass up to 14 pound this year if your after rays and the odd tope off the shore then i would recomend the 42 mark on the burren on the west coast of ireland i think its county clare but might be galway.wexford has some good bass beaches aswell but i have never fished there so cant help you out there mate .the river suire in waterford is good for flounder up to three pound. if you need directions to any of these marks let me know i might even be able to get my dad to take you to a few of these marks cos he still lives over there just let me know when and where your going and if he is not working he would take you round.the worst time to go is about this time of the year most of the sea lads take up fluff chucking now for a few months until the mackreal showwas that a bite (na mate i think it was wind)

get yourself to dingle mate loads of marks of all kinds around there.beaches rock marks, piers.the shannon is in reach as well.plenty of pubs for a drink or two.
only problem is the journey time, drive to holyhead, ferry over then another big drive down to dingle, you need a week there to justify it.
