If your willing to be tied down to a club and do all the work yourself then it's a goer. If not then I think you should join an established club i.e. Whitley bay, Tynemouth, Shiremoor, Seaton Sluice etc.
        Cheers

              Good luck.
I have never run a angling club but was founder member of a bike club 16 years ago and still going.
1.My advice, keep rules to the bare possible.
Otherwise you will spend hours arguing.
2.Choose your members, some can be nothing more then people who love to argue.
3.Have someone strong in charge, take votes etc and all that but have someone that is a good strong chair, again otherwise time is wasted.
4.Have clear aims what you want out of the club, fishing yes but do you want a social side, comps etc.
5 Have fun, people sometimes forget that.
The rest you will figure out as you go,but you will always have a " Yeah But" member, meeting is closed, votes cast, debates done and one person will always say " Yeah but what if".

                  Nope just experience.
We grew the club to fast, result was that meetings ended in slagging matches, members got hacked off, nothing was decieded and nowt got done.
I feel better to have 12 commited members then 45, with most there trying to change the club to the one they want, but wont set up.
Seem to think of every reason that something shouldn't be done.
Never come through with the goods if they say or offer to do something.
Think someone else will do the boring stuff, admin, etc but are more then happy to talk the talk at the bar.
We have had members turn up for a shift on the door etc ****ed and or stoned.
They are there to ensure the safety of the party goers.
All down to attitude and being a team player cos if you crap on your mates they are the ones having to cover for you.
So choose your members, same as you would choose who you went fishing with on a dodgy mark.
Some people you would trust ,some you wouldn't
As i have said i have seen all that and more in the 16 years the club has been together.
                  We have 4 rules.
1.Must ride a bike or trike or be a regular pillion.
                  2.Must enjoy a party.
                  3.Same as two but harder.
                  4.No more rules.
Not bitter, but do not assume that everyone has the same aims as you do.

Get started and get insurance. Locally you can affiliate to Northern Federation of Sea Anglers for cover.

Decide what you're aims are and much of what has been said before applies. Simpler is better
