  • Razor Clams

hi all , just wondering how essential / effective is razor as a bait for cod . notice a canny few anglers always tip lug baits with . are they known to outfish other baits ? have always been pairing lug with squid / mussel / rag . and are they any good as bait on their own ? only used them a couple times last season and since i never caught owt on it just wondering if someone can shed some light on it . also it possible to collect it round the durham colliery beaches... thanks in advance.

I've tried it as a solo bait and a cocktail to worms, try using it after a good blow for best effects when it's washed up as natural food supply, I've never had major results with it apart from a few flounder on it's own

i usually use razor on my second rod with other baits like mussel, squid etc, never caught any big fish on it and have caught most species from N E coast on it . and having just got back from chinese market in stowell st, with a tray of 45 razor clams for less than a 5er and box of squid for 2.75 a got 2 of each well worth it i reckon

Have a walk along Seaton beach after or during a big sea on a big tide found a few of them on the water line along with clams but you have got to beat the sea gulls, never noticed there burrows but never looked
