Bass is a pot luck fish, they can show up anytime and just about anywhere. You can increase your chances by fishing some of the marks that have turned up a good number int he last couple of years. Some of the marks that i have caught bass from or marks know that produce bass are.....................The big beach at south shields, go down at low water and fish it up,falling back witht he tide.Marsden rock marks produce school bass and the odd better one, the start of Blyth pier and the large beach can produce soame, i got 3lb in jan from Blyth pier. (SPELLING) Cambois beach used to produce alot of school bass not sure about now and i am sure there will be alot more marks that do.

As long as everyone remebers that bass grow very slow and have just started makingna come back the local marks should just et better and better for them.

Mackerel..well they change from year to year but they should show from the boats the end of may and from the local piers in june.

I am not trying to be rude here, but this is a convo that i have been having for quite a while now. I still think that the reason we do not catch Bass here is we do not target them. I know what you mean Ritchie when you say it is a pot luck fish. When was the last time you went Bass fishing. Personally I have never been Bass fishing, although I have caught a Bass of three and a half pounds. This season I intend to target Bass. I wonder if I catch Cod instead, nah probably not.

Is there any interest in having a bit of a comp over the season to see who catches the best Bass on the site. Not just from the shore, after reading posts from \"the other side\" (lmao) I see there is a bit of interest there also. Why not have a couple of comps and lets see what can be done on our coast when we are trying. Lots of us have a digital camera now so it could be a bit of fun.

It would be nice to have a bass only comp, no one might catch any but at least it would get some of the local anglers...like me targeting bass and using new tactics.

              I would fish a comp

Richy if there is enough interest we can sort something out. If not we can still sort something out between us mate.

Chris have you done any Bass fishing at all. As Ling_Basher says they do pop up quite often around Blyth areas.

Target them where they have been caught. best with lightish tackle, Bass rod or spinning rod. Try using Rag, Lug, Mackerel and crab or cocktails of them all. I intend to do some fishing this year specifically for Bass. I have been told to try a long flowing trace, but I am going to try some spinning also.

Sandeel and Launce (Dead or Alive) might be worth a go. If I\'m Pier Fishing in the Summer (Don\'t ask why) I often use Sandeels just in case a Big Hungry Bass (BHB) decides to swim up to it, have a good look, maybe a sniff and then.................a lick. The BHB thinks \"SANDEEL! There\'s loads down South!!!\" and ****s of down there to get it\'s picture taken for Sea Angler. *******s!

How Rich, give over with the \"two of the bigger Bass .......\" you\'ve only had three man
