  • Ambassadeur 6500CT Sports Mag Schematic / Overhaul

Anyone point me in the right direction. Also any advice on general maintenance. It\'s running alright but I have to really tighten the drag to stop it slipping. It has been suggested that the Fibre Brakes need cleaning / replacing. What oil should I use for a general overhaul? I\'m not after tournamnet performance. TIA

Ell, this is for the CS not the CT but I can\'t imagine theres a massive difference.

Thats the very reason I didnt buy them nearly did untill I found out about that prob with them.I now have 2 brand new mag elites But Abu have modified the sports mag now because the chrome was peeling off the mag ring causing it to cease up so now they dont chrome it its black now, also they reckon a grain of sand or salt would cease it also

It sounds like you might need to clean fibre drag washers Ell, they are on the handle side of the reel. I use AP 80 on my reels and have no problems only a drop in the bearings, 2 in the spool and 1 on the spindle that your handle is bolted onto and I put vasaline every where else

              Ell.

My two pennies worth . A clutch should be kept dry under normal cicumstance , check to see also if the plates are contaminated with oil or grease . If they are impregnated with oil / grease they will never \"Grip\" and should be replaced . A dip in a solvent de-greaser may do the trick .

Ell i use lighter fluid to clean my bearings etc and as Simon says use ap80 or rocket fuel and if this all fails try the lighter fluid again !
