Sorry to hear about this Tony, it realy is the lowest of the low, I fish a lot on my own, (I'm off out in 1/2 hour as it happens), and it makes me a little worried. Hope you get some gear back,
    Ian.

        Bad craic!

Many moons ago I posted on Nesa looking for advice on a film script I was thinking about based on a big NE sea fishing comp. I had a couple of scenes in mind one was

Big dark beach, main characters staring out to sea/watching rod tips. Gear 40 yards up the beach. Rough neck youth appears on dirt bike and steams down the beach snagging one of our heroes bags and buzzing past. Fishing lad reels in his line (It's Hollywood remember and a 5:1 retrieve ratio) and sets up for a mad pendulum cast. Sets lead sailing down the beach (camera shot like on that arra from Robin Hood Prince of Teef) In distance thieving hoody gets dropped like a stone by a 6oz bullet.

        High fives all around.

I'll explain about how the "King of the Bouncers" Range Rover Sport ends up floating off North Row Ends in another installment.

        Bad Craic though definetly

Thou call'st me madman, but I call thee blockhead"

Shocking news about your gear Tony, I will pop into Marties (Ashington) and ask him to keep an eye out for some heap of cxxp trying to sell dodgy gear.

I'm absolutely disgusted at whats happened to you Tony! Nothing but pure scumbags!
At one time it used to be our cars that were on our minds while fishing...now it seems we can't even venture 50yds from our tackle boxes...makes ya sick.

I was fishing Ryhope a few years back, an all nighter from the beach, when two creepy characters approached me and asked me how I was doing? Wondering what the hell they were doing on the beach at 3am (I knew they weren't fishing as they stunk of beer and were wearing tracksuits), I told them the fishing was slow and hoped they would just wander away - wrong! At this point I was beginning to feel the worst was about to happen, and began planning what to do, Ian Golds tripod through the neck should do it, I thought, or a filletting knife through the heart, when at that point two lamps appeared on the beach and headed my way...I've never been so relieved to see a couple of anglers in all my life - the two creepy ones wished me luck and left...it could've been all innocent - but I definately feared the worst!

                    theft and personal safety.

Unfortuantly is it is a sign of the times. If theres money to be made and its grabable some smackhead will lift it. The goods will then be sold for next to nowt and guess where the money goes.
As to violent situations. Anyone can use reasonable force to protect themselves.
If two a-------s fancied there chances well--
Fortunately i have never been put in this position, however i recently heard some guy got beat up on Steetly pier at Hartlepool because he would not give someone some bait.
This is what someone told me so i do not know if it is true.
Overall i think we are in a safe sport with a lot of comrade from other people fishing who you may never have met before.
