You were well warned mate. Each to tha own no fish is worth risking ya life over and most guys on here do say about saftey on rock marks. As they no the dangers fishing them its winter time when u hear about the deaths of angelers out fishing in dodgey areas and getting caught out by mother nature. But hey if you want to go to one of the most dangerous fishing venues at the most dangerous time of year by all means fill ya boots. Al for the sake of a big cod you could get on ya door step at a local mark

Now you have heard how dangerous it is then atleast now you know that if your or your mates go in the drink it's your own fault for not listening to lads who have fished up that way for 30 plus years

thats my original post for what info i was seeking.... it say i know its dangerous. i make my own mind up if im able to fish a mark and to me the winter could have as many good days as bad days. ive been to abbs a couple of times this summer and said to the lads cant fish this!!! thats without ice and cold in the mix. so please dont think im stupid i can see with my own eyes if i think its fishable.
we wont be fishing in bad weather or days like the perfect storm.

just wanna talk to some one whos been up in the winter months when the cod are in thats all.

                  cheers dan

no problem il let u know how it gos.

fished crocs back yesterday had 2 codling, lost what felt alot bigger than the 3lber i got. had several wrass, several coalies, mate lost a decent pollok at the edge and another mate had a couple of wrass and a coalie or 2.

i was trying my new lure stuff with my 20cm real eel on and all of a sudden you could c a huge silver shape following it, pulled it out of the water and a seal pup came up looked at us then naffed off. absolutely s*it my pants. was a realy weird experience and the eel was replaced with something else.

you seem to me like a young lad, no one is calling you stupid, the reason you are not getting any reports is lads don't fish it in the winter as there are plenty other marks from seahouses down to Tynemouth that scream with cod in n/e s/e seas and bad weather why travel to st abbs when you have it on your doorstep. davy.

it only adds an hours drive going to abbs plus we all do really well there. a few years back we fished color nose point alot tried beadnell, craster and a few other places to not much effect.(basically ended up giving fishing up till now) so i guess thats why we like to travel up that far and its beautiful compared to tynemouth areas. we intend to do some night fishing at beadnell and mayb try a beach at some point.

if any one can recommend some good local marks for good sized cod we would consider trying them.

never done much beach fishing always rocks really. beaches seem a whole different ball game and how to read em must be a skill in its self. but on the rocks were at home.

                            cheers again dan

Get yourself down a safe Whitley Bay beach now then while the seas on to catch codlings, save yourself a long drive.
