There\'s loads of places to fish in the Tweed for flounder Alan. One of the best marks is the mussel beds on the North bank just on Crab Rock corner. The flounder population on the tweed is a mere shadow of what it was a few years ago. There is a mud flat area above the railway bridge that dries at low water, bags of 20+ fish were not uncommon there a few years ago. Now one or two fish is the norm. To be honest I haven\'t fished the river for a few years now as the open beaches to the South of Berwick offer much better sport with Turbot as well as the bigger Flounders.
If you want to peg a match here fish the flood up on a smallish tide and make sure there is no spate in the River. The deepest marks are on the south bank from Spittal point up to the South arm of Tweedmouth Dock , the shallower marks are on the North bank from the bend in the pier to the new wall at the Berwick Quay. Both Banks will accommodate 50 plus anglers.
If there is a match planned let me know as we can provide a few local anglers to boost the tally. As for the best time of year for the event , anytime between April and October.
