    studs

depends on the length of the studs versus the thickness of the sole/heel of your boots

I don't know if this type of thing are any good? Seen them in the outdoor shops and often wondered if they would work over regular boots...

I've also seen some that are the same idea but with a rubbery-type thing that goes round the foot of the boot and has regular studs underneath - these were what I was trying to find a picture of (in particular the Monster Grips):

Welcome to the 1 Stop Shop for Shoe Snow & Ice Cleats

Don't know how durable they'd be on rock that's the only thing, as they're designed more for ice.

iv got muck boots myself and the soles look thick enough to take studs but the rubber sole might be to soft for the studs to lock in place securely my vass waders have studds but the sole is much more stiff
