hi guys i uses wader and sometimes on low water mark hiking shoes even trainer and had no bother ....til today, had a bit of a fall fortunately my rod was ok but my leg is well blo odied and bruised to bits. was wondering if spiked crampon can help over slippery rock or if i m better of buying them spiked jobbies. and with them spike jobbies whats it like walking fair distance on them ? just wondering what yourselves use and can recommend. thanks in advance...gonna go nurse the leg now(nesa first then firstaid??? i need my priorities setting straight lol

I bought some snowbee screw in studs for my chest waders and tbh the next pair I buy im going to make sure they have the studded soles , walking on rocks and sea weed is so much better . I tore my knee joint slipping on rocks its not a good experience . get well soon , its nearly cod season .. -

i love my ocean studded chesties over weed and wet rock. they havnt let me down for about 10 years.
apparently studded rock hopper boots are great for walking and clambering over rocks.
what ever you do, dont buy boots with .... vibram ... soles. even the pavements are slippery when wet in them.Comment

Felt is a good all rounder, studs are good except for hard volcanic rock were they are lethal -think Cullernose point or Dunstanburgh. Once saw a guy at Cullernose with hands inside chesties nose dive into the rocks, knocked himself out due studs. Two black eyes and a badly gashed nose. Just as well we were there.Comment

snow bee rock hoppers, my mate got a pair at the tackle shop guys said there were what they used and hes been spot on over kelp and slippy rocks (the black smooth ones u no will get u). where as im more fleet of foot than him but i slip like hell in my trainers...with no grips what so ever i might add!!
snowbee rockhoppers are my next purchase... gona do it now online.
they have good grips in both directions and wire stud things, just google em and see for yourself!!Comment

Got some bisons that u get studs with and put them in the heels as they might go right through the soles but never used em yet to see how they perform with just heels done

Last three trips to Norway I have lost count how many times I have slipped when fishing off the rocks and gone over. I had a very swollen elbow last time. Studded waders are to heavy to take so I am considering Vass studded wellies. They also do the waders. Heard nothing but good reports. Gary Pye sells them at Nets in Ryhope. Defo going to have a look at some as the wellies I have now Muck boots slide to easily on slippy surfaces. I also wonder if I can screw studs into the muck boots????.Personal best, 12.5lb Tope Scotland. 22/05/2012.Comment

Anywhere local stock the snowbee rock hoppers? Would prefer to try them on before buying,
Ive got the muck boots at the moment and have to say they are great for keeping your feet warm and for walking in but not good on wet piers (wood or stone) no way you would get me near rocks in them! Also have a pair of vibram soled walking boots that are great on dry rocks but as I found out at the weekend slightest bit of moisture and they are lethal! I'm hoping rockhoppers will be the answer
