could do with a bit of help iam just getting back sea fishing and iam thinking of buying a rock rod i was thinkin a dc6

I have the Anyfish Rock rod and find it a pleasure to use. Unfortunately I cannot tell you what it is like pulling in a double figure fish yet (or even something much lighter come to think of it).
A bad days fishing is better than a good day at work.

Hello ecoli, welcome to NESA. It all depends on budget & whether you want new or second hand. The Conoflex dc 6 was a top rock rod, but there is a big choice available (and a big range of prices!). Pop into a local tackle shop & ask to have a look at the rock/stiff action beach rods. It may be worth getting a second hand rod & getting the summer out of it. If your enjoying it, save up & get something for the 07-08 winter season. It's not far away!!.

If your willing to go second hand i bought a zipplex F1 for less than £200. which is the best rod ive ever used on the rocks. Although i havent used loads would def recommend a F1.
Another famous geordie saying! The more you practice the luckier you get!

Ron Thompson Axcellerator 13ft 6 - great rod and perfect for the rock edges casting big baits and hauling in that double.....hopefully. Should get that for about £110.00.

As for the reel, get yourself either a Daiwa SLO30H (£70.00) or a Penn 535 Mag (100.00). I've got the Diawa loaded with 30lb line, and the Penn 535 GS non mag version loaded with 40lb line. Find the Penn slightly more rugged, but both are ideal as rock reels.

              regards

              Stu

I've got a well used and abused conoflex nemesis plus you can have for 70 quid ,team this up with a slosh 30 for 70 quid brand new and you'll have a set up to tame the biggest pig imaginable

not me mate i bought one off simon ayre i think hello simon, while being a nice rod there is something wrong somewhere with the tip as ive never missed as many fish ever as with this rod.baby cod under a pound were pulling slackliners last night on semi rough ground in a flat calm so imagine what a half decent fish will do in a sea.my mate hooked way more than me with his penn sidewinder.

just my opinion but i would look elsewhere for a rock rod as this has nearly been thrown in more than once

I remember (a while ago - on the old site), there were a number of "rave reviews" of the RT Axcellerator.
Never used one meself, so I can't comment - but maybe some of those who use one could add a bit more to this thread.

Certainly, the "quality to price ratio" seemed to be very good from what I remember people saying o here.
