    Does anyone know wot the craic is with catching a salmon off the shore with rod n line ? (not intentionally) can u keep it or should it b put back

    yes...you need a license to catch and keep salmon. All game fish by law should be returned if caught without a license.

        Welcome to NESA mate,I think you can legally keep them if caught a certain distance off shore,forget what it is though

                    I would imagine the same rules apply on the NE coast as well as over here on the NW coast. If you catch a salmon, be it on rod & line or in a net, you are obliged by law to return it to the sea whether it is alive or dead !! The Bailiffs over here are red-hot on that one.
                    If all about you are catching fish, cast in their swim !!!
