  • heavy ground reel, rod

Im after a strong fixed spool for the winter as my big penn only has 1 spool for mono and that's got lighter line on for clean beaches, could someone recommend a meaty fixed spool for the strong stuff at a reasonable price, also a stronger rod for the piers thanks gents

Probably be better if you stated what price range you were looking at mate. Loads of rods and reels knocking about at all different prices.

aye, I don't mind paying up to about 80 pound for a good solid reel wouldn't mind paying a few quid more if it was worth it really as it will be getting abused for a few year lol

Yeah that's the way it goes, of one is a bit more expensive and what you like you may as well go for it lol. If you google rough ground fixed spools it will probably throw up a few.

i have just sold a diawa opus bull 6000 in mint condition with 2 spools box etc for £40
These are beasts of reels and incredibly smooth and powerful
They are heavy reels due to there full metal jacket but for the rough stuff and the price i dont think they can be beat
i bought mine as a spare reel but never needed to use it
Really solid kit, i cant fault them

Thanks for the reples chaps, just checked this one out and it sounds really appealing to what I'm after except it was the 5000, what's the difference between them just line capacity or what lol
