simon i fish the jarrow police station all the time have had some good fish out of it up to three pound.a couple of weeks ago maybe longer a lad had one about 8 pound .your car is safe as houses mate if you park at the top of the bank and walk down to the river you will come to a patch of grass on your right fish there as close to the fence as you can without hitting it while casting.i find the best time to fish it is two hours down three up.you will need rotton bottoms on cos when you reel in there is a mud bank about thirty yards out and when you reel in your line cuts through the mud and the weight gets caught .the top end fishes well too buti dont like it up there you are away from the road and the police station so if you do get some ass holes down there you are isolated but i have never had any trouble touch wood.the bottom is mostly mud but on high tide you can get caught on the rocks reeling in.my best advice for you is to go down on low tide and have a look mate it would probably make all this more clear for you,or if you want send me a pm when you are thinking of going down and i will meet you there its only five mins from mine and if im not at work ill fish with you or if i dont have time to fish ill pop down and point you in the right direction hope this helps mate if you need directions mate i need to know where your coming fromwas that a bite (na mate i think it was wind)

cant get down there mate till after two what time are you planning to stop till,if you can get there for that time mate in my opinion thats the best time to fish there.just do what i told you before stick as close to the green railing as you can and you will be ok you can see your car from there aswell so you dont have to worrry about it .i find frozen peeler or fresh, fish better right on bottom water with frozen blacks.if you want to try for whiting rag and mackrel work best if you need frozen blacks let me know i can sort you out on p.m only mind.if you come down the a19 go straight over the tunnel roundabout up the hill to the next roundabout turn right there follow the road for about two miles you will come to another roundabout turn right there follow the road along until you come to a right turn with a sign for atlantic antics turn right there follow the road round and take a left at tyne view go all the way to the bottom and there is a very small car park at the bottom of the bank on your left park there and walk down towards the river you are therewas that a bite (na mate i think it was wind)

i dont think the wind makes much difference in the river mate.but you cant fish the river on a big tide anyway cos you cant really hold bottom.i find a medium tide and a westerly wind fishes best not too strong a westerly though mate.was that a bite (na mate i think it was wind)

Not trying to be negative here lads but with the way the sea is id be out on the beaches, rocks and piers. I fished the jarra mark for the 1st time over the xmas when the sea was flat and it does eem to be a canny shot but hitty missy if you get me drift, it might just be cos i dont fish it that much tho
