Seafisher: My dad once told me that in the olden days (mythology) there use to be winds called NORTHERLIES which apparently came every winter stirring up the sea and cod were caught off the shore.

I said 'BOLLOCKS, you had me going for ages about Santa so I'm not falling for that bulls#it'.
A bad days fishing is better than a good day at work.

Fozally: Just wait until the summer time when everytime I decide to go spinning and want a flat clear sea, or decide to go boat fishing you can bet there will be a full blown north easterly, the sea will be mountainous and as murky as can be for days on end! You've got to see the funny side of it though? I suppose it's one of natures ways of protecting the fish!

the notherlies are definately coming. The nights are getting lighter, and the boat season is approaching so, guaranteed northerlies and easterlies from march to october. so while the sea will run nice, all the fish will have buggered off offshore for a shag and some R&R, so you'll not get a sniff from the shore and the boats won't be able to get out

            cynical?? me??

The Northerlies seem set for Monday but by the looks of the forcast there will be an even bigger sea over next weekend coming from the SE.

Let's hope they both bring the fish with them!

I know the feeling I'm on lates as well, but there's nothing stopping me going out after 23:00 I suppose. If the sea comes away nicely I will have to give it a go.

Drove down the Spine Road this afternoon and chimneys were showing the wind from aroun NW, bit stir starting on the sea.

Came back up tonight and wind is SW (too dark to sea conditions), where's the Northerlies
