westerly winds forcast all week so i wouldn't hold my breath if its cod your after at roker. if your fishing wednesday after dark you'll get plenty action on the end of roker pier with the whitings, theres been some cracking whitings coming in some in excess of 1lb 8oz and with the small tides you'll be able to fish quite light for them, 2 or 3 hook flappers and macky strip are all you need. i'm giving it a try over top water tonight on roker just going rigged up for whiting bashing i'll post how i got on in the catch reports when i get back.
if its just cod your after better off fishing upriver in the tyne still plenty small codling up there with the odd better one, should be ok as it fishes better on a small tide up there !

Why wasn't the pier open yesterday? It's disgrace! Absolutely shocking. There was an incredibly rare chance that it may just still have properly fished. There was no chance the sea was going to come away at short notice or for that matter for a good few days. SHUT! Anyone know where I can go to get an explanation of council policy on this? This pier is bought and payed for with our council tax we have a right to be on there. The South pier is off limits and The Lane, it's not on. Seaham had the right idea, they listened to anglers and came up with a perfectly workable scheme to give people access to the North Pier on trust (with a key like).
I'd suggest anyone else peed off complains as well. Believe it or not, complaints at some councils are taken very seriously and to ignore them is not an option. How the complaints are acted upon is diferrent matter!"I mock thee not, though I by thee am mockéd.
Thou call'st me madman, but I call thee blockhead"

1. Do they honestly only have one set of keys?
2. Why doesn't he leave the keys with someone else on his day off?
Absolute disgrace.
