Got a Penn 535GS in excellent nick, but after persevering with it I still prefer my slosh 30, so If anyone fancies swapping their Slosh30 for my Penn, email me on paulnufc@msn.com MUST be in as good nick as my Penn lads. ok. I live North Tyneside, Benton.
I\'m the same as you. Much prefer the SLOSH to the Penn, the Penn however I find useful when the ground is extremely heavy or your winching up a bit. The SLOSH is much nicer to cast with though. Look at the gears on the Penn and you find out how hard wearing they are.

what do you want rid of the penn for. imho its much better made for the rough ground than the slosh 30. if your still getting over runs with it fetch it over to mine and i will sort it.
Sorry Hiram, this isn’t directly related to your reel but it might be of interest to others with Penn mag reels.
I bought a brand new Penn 525 mag, which worked great for a short while before becoming very erratic - it was giving over-runs and eventually started making horrible scraping noises. I opened it up to find, all the magnets had come loose and were clumped together in a lump. I stuck them back, in their appropriate holes with super glue and the reel has been great ever since.
Incidently, I was considering adding a 535 to my tackle box - unfortunately, I don\'t have a Slosh 30 to swap with you - I don\'t suppose you would consider a (totally bearing-shagged) fixed-spool Okuma - No, didn\'t think so
I\'ve got a 535 Mag for sale in Frazers, Coatsworth Rd Gateshead. Very clean, used about 4-5 times. I\'m asking for £60, because of the good condition of it. Bought myself another Daiwa SLX30SHV on tuesday to replace it.

and they said
its not a reel for the rocks
and charged him £15 to replace it
wudnt get a penny out of me
i wud have glued the locks on his shutter
load of sh i te
the tackle shop and the reel
penn 535 rule
stick that in your pipe and smoke it
Read somewhere about someone asking about the difference between the SHV and the older SLOSH and I don\'t believe they were much better. Henry Gilbey made a comment about part of it being better but overall the older ones will do just as much. MY SL20 has been bashed around a bit but still works well with a regular service. Had bearings and shaft replaced in time but given how often I use it I don\'t think it\'s that bad.
Hiram I had problems originally with the 535 but like Tony says if you get it sorted they are fine. Had mine cleaned out of grease and re-oiled and lubricated etc and was much improved.
How and people think I say weird stuff. Personal ants now eh Sless. I\'d also like to announce the fact that I now have a proper job, 40 hours a week with something written on paper, 9-5 to boot.
1. nuff dosh to get fishing properly again
2. nuff time to join a club

Thought for the day:
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs
Well I\'ve got to agree in part to both sides of this discussion, the penn 535 is bomb proof and I use mine for rough ground 35lb line straight through, but the shv and the old slosh cast far better than the penn, like Ant said, they are smooth, so each to their own. they have both earned a place in my tackle box
