  • Herring on beach.

Fished sluice beach last night and foulhooked a small herring. Has anyone ever seen these on the beach before?

The lad in the tackle shop(fraisers) said there was a huge shoal of them not far off whitley beach.

I have a range of humorous responses to that question. I will gladly share them via PM for a shilling a tuppence or the peeling one (?) or wait for the podcast, ha ha the future is here the future is pods and that.

They might have a herring working in the shop that was very fast and made it up the beach dead quick with a mobile phone (02) and made sure the rest of his crew were still close eniugh to constitute a "shoal" and therefore he would know! It could happen or a Griffin was flying off of the coast and spotted a herring like shadow and radioed in

that was number 3 in the list! a taster

As I was probabley the "Lad" in Frasers that mentioned something about herring I will set the record straight.
A commercial fisherman that I know had herring in his nets off Whitley Bay on at least three seperate occasions last month, all were returned.
If Terry wants any more info on whats in the sea off Whitley Bay he just needs to ring me at the shop !!

Will see you on the night Tim.

Yes its heaviest bag, but i dont know about your herring traces.

Two hooks max for match i think, havent got a clue as to wether or not the herring stretch from whitley to whitburn, but hey your mate might know?

Seriously though Tim nice to see you comin accross to our patch mate.
